This weekend, May 30th and 31st, is Coach Appreciation Weekend

Not everyone knows that the South Windsor Soccer Club is run entirely by volunteers. Our President and board members as well as our Coaches and their Assistants all volunteer time to make this club possible.

In our club, though, we think coaches are the really special ones. Coaches are the people who directly influence your kids. They make the game fun. They're the ones out there on stage when the rest of us may not be brave enough to do it or may not have time enough to do it.

This weekend, May 30th and 31st, we are honoring our amazing coaches with Coach Appreciation Weekend. Let your coaches know how much they mean to you! Help your children:
· Draw a picture
· Bake a treat
· Take a photo with Coach (make a sign!) post it on our FB or Instagram
· Write a note
· Be on time (they love that!)
· Make a craft
· Say, "Thanks!"
· Bring a snack or bottle of water
· Give an awesome hi-five
· Make a card

Every coach we can think of would say they do this because they love it. We want them to know we love that they do it too!

Let's all show our favorite coaches some love this weekend!

Ray Reid/South Windsor Soccer Camp
The Ray Reid/South Windsor Soccer Camp is a weeklong, three-hour a day instructional soccer program for boys & girls ages 6-13. This camp seeks to develop and improve each player's technique, skills and creativity with the ball. Under the direction of a first-class coaching staff, players will be exposed to dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and small-sided games emphasizing touches on the ball and possession. The training focus for younger players ages 6-8 will be to improve their skills in a fun-filled environment and players ages 9-13 will work on technical refinement and receive an introduction to the tactical side of the game. The South Windsor Young Stars Camp features a strong coach-to-player ratio and a certified trainer will be on duty throughout camp.

Housing needed for International Coaches

My name is Lynn Nochisaki and I am coordinator for housing of EVO soccer coaches for SWSC.

I am looking for families to house a coach for 1-2 weeks at a time for the spring season. My family has hosted coaches for the past 8 years, and it has been a great experience for our whole family. All that is needed is a place to sleep! Most families will include the coaches in their family meals and they are happy to be included in activities as well. The coaches do not need transportation, they have use of a company car, and are perfectly ok if school and work takes the family away during the day. They typically work 4-8pm, M-F, a few hours on Saturday and Sundays. Evolution Soccer employees are professional and friendly and background checked before coming to the US.

I encourage you to call me with any questions, also thanks to the families who have hosted in the past, maybe you know them and can ask them questions if you are interested: Carron, Manning, Gruca, Pattitucci, Maddock, Amenta, Pacekonis, Chokski, Bedic, Matus, Butryman, Zanelli, Wu, and Stoddard are a few that have hosted in the past. Some feedback from families that hosted last season:

"Last year we hosted Jack, an EVO coach for a couple of weeks. At first we were hesitant, but after the first few days we could not have been happier that we chose to host. We have two boys (ages then 3/5) and having Jack here gave both the boys someone to look forward to seeing at practice as well as at home in the evening. Jack was very respectful of our family's routines and helped out and played with the boys in the evening. Hosting Jack for our boys and us was a positive experience and I would suggest giving it a try to all the families out there that are able to accommodate a friendly, kind and respectful person. " - Ramsdell Family

"We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting the Evo coaches these past 3 seasons. The experience of sharing our home with someone from another country has been a benefit to all of us. Our sons love playing and spending time with our guests both inside and outside the house. Learning about and having discussions about differences between our countries is something my husband and I enjoy as well. We have hosted 2 different coaches and they have both been very kind, polite and friendly. It eventually felt as if they were a member of our family. It is a great experience for parents and children alike and I would recommend it to all families!" - Butryman Family

"My husband, Kit, and I hosted Dan for a total of 3 weeks (not in succession). Dan was very professional, polite, and a great eater! Because my husband and I both work full time, we were generally not available during weekdays. At first, I thought this would not be ideal for someone visiting from another country. However, we quickly realized that these are 20-something men who have their own lives. They are very low maintenance and really just need a place to stay and food to eat." - Chang Family

Housing is needed on a 1-2 weekly basis (or more), Sunday to Sunday starting April 26th - June 21.
Let me know if you have questions or are willing to host.
Thank you,

Lynn Nochisaki
